Due to their
ignorance, people remain unaware about the natural laws of God called “Dharma”
and go on violating those laws. In Bhagavadgita it is told that whenever there
is gross violation of natural laws
of God or dharma, God incarnates himself or he sends proper representatives
according to nature of the situation. The
purposes behind this are re-establishment of the laws or dharma, protection of
the followers of his laws and destruction of the root causes behind violation
of the laws. It is told in Bhagavata that sages like Narada, Kapila,
Sukadeva and so many great and perfect persons wander the surface of the earth
as representatives of God for this purpose. Actually the sages acquire
attributes of Godhood by their
actions. They are endowed with the power of God. So they are able to do their
duties as above. The history has many examples of such men and women. Some of them
were considered equal to God on earth by the people of that time and are still
being worshiped. The scriptures clearly tell that he who renders selfless
service without expectation of anything in return is the divinity on Earth. One,
who dedicates his life for the welfare of all, is said to be the God incarnation
on Earth. Guru Harideva acquired all these qualities through rigorous spiritual
practice or sadhana. He acted as representative of God on Earth and performed
duties for establishment of dharma or laws of God like sage Narada, Kapila etc.
as mentioned above. He selflessly dedicated his whole life for this purpose. Scriptures
tell that a sage or Mahapurusha or spiritual superhuman being possesses super natural
powers. Guru Harideva also possessed such powers of Yoga. Like all other sages he
also utilized those powers on very rare occasions for the benefit of common people.
As a result of yoga practice he lived up to 140 years of age. He started his
mission at his age of 27 years. During this prolonged period from 27 to 140
years of his life, he came into contact with king and kingly persons, scholars
of higher knowledge with different religious faiths and from various places, people
of higher positions in the society and also general ignorant and downtrodden
people of the society in huge numbers. All those people considered him as
divinity on Earth and respected him like God incarnate. During this long period of time, nobody opposed him in any matter and
he
had no enmity with anybody at anywhere and on any point. Thus the incident that
took place at Narayanpur was the turning point of the life of Guru Harideva and
also it was the only incident of clash with others in his whole life.(to be
