There
is another ancient temple of Lord Vishnu at Hajo,
around 30 kms away in the west from Janardan temple of Aswaklanta. This temple
is dedicated to Lord Madhava. Here we should note that Lord Vishnu has
thousands of names and forms and Madhava is one of those. Again, Madhava has
hundreds of attributes and there are hundreds of separate names and forms of Madhava
connected with those attributes. Bindu Madhava, Veni Madhava, Setu Madhava, Sri
Madhava, Radha Madhava, Prayag Madhava etc are some examples of various names
and forms of Madhava. In addition to the temple at Hajo, there are large number of temples in India where Lord
Vishnu is worshiped in the name of Madhava. In each of those temples Madhava connected
with a particular attribute is worshiped in one name and form. For example, in
Bidnu Madava temple deity of Bindu Madhava is worshiped and in Radha Madhava
temple deity of Radha Madhava is worshiped and so on. The form of the deities
and procedure of worship at different Madhava temples differ according to the
attributes added with the name Madhava. In this way, the temple at Hajo is called
Hayagriva Madhava temple and the deity of Madhaba worshiped there is called Hayagriva
Madhava. Guru Harideva mentioned that Lord Vishnu dominated a very strong
demonic power called Hayasura and in memory of that glorious deed he is
worshiped in the name and form of Hayagriva Madhava at Hajo. Now summarizing
the things, we see that, there are thousands of names and forms of Lord Vishnu.
Each of these name and form has hundreds of attributes. There are separate deities
connected with each of the attributes. In this way one single Lord Vishnu is
worshiped in innumerable names and forms, in innumerable places, by
innumerable people and with innumerable procedures of worship. Again, there is another famous temple dedicated
to Lord Siva at Hajo itself. Here also, the same thing comes. One single Lord
Siva has thousands of names and forms. Each name and form has hundreds of
attributes. So Lord Siva is also worshipped in innumerable names and forms, as
like as Lord Vishnu and as described above. Similar is the case with other Gods
and Goddesses also. The Vedas and the Vedic scriptures tell that all these
innumerable numbers of deities described above and worshiped at different places
in different ways are various names and forms of one and the same God Almighty
or Ultimate Truth. With the aim of realization of that Ultimate Truth Guru
Harideva proceeded on pilgrimage and these things will be made clear in the coming discussions.
