Guru Harideva was born and brought up, Lakshminarayana was worshiped as a
family deity or Grihadevata or Kuladevata. In the ancient times, it was a
tradition in some families to accept a divine power as a family deity. That is,
one of the ancestors of a family used to worship of a particular deity in the
past. People of later generations starting from him continued that practice and
in this way, worship of a particular kuladevata used to become the tradition in a
particular family. The main objective of this practice was to ensure the
overall safeguard of the people of one family, generation after generation.
This concept was also useful in reinforcing the belief of an entire family
chain in one divine power. It is believed that when the family deity is
worshiped, blessings of the family ancestors also come along with the blessings
of the deity. Moreover, the public temples are meant for all people. For
serious religious practice, it is necessary to have privacy. The family deity
or Grihadevata established at a place of prayer at home was useful to serve
this purpose. In the past, the family deity was considered to be the most
reverend member of the family. All members of the family, generation after
generation, loved him, respected him and tried to keep him satisfied in all
respect. They used to offer food to him and keep him clean, well dressed and
decorated. People even used to keep his room warm during winter and keep him
cool during summer. Separation from family deity was equivalent to the
separation from motherly love and protection in the mind of some people. A
mother always loves and protects her kids. Likewise, people believed that the
family deity always loves and protects all members of the family. In earlier
days, people used to carry their family deities along with them wherever they
go for a new settlement. Dwija Narottama, the forefather of Guru Harideva, also
brought the Deity of Lakshminarayana with him from Kannouja. Dwija Ajanabha, father of Guru Harideva used
to worship the same deity every day. His wife Parijati and son Harideva used to

নিজ বংশৰ কূলদেৱতাক উপাসনা কৰিলে কূলদেৱতাৰ আশীৰ্বাদৰ লগতে বংশৰ পূৰ্বপুৰুষ সকলৰ আশীৰ্বাদো পোৱা যায় বুলি লোকে বিশ্বাস কৰিছিল ।
তদুপৰি ৰাজহুৱা মন্দিৰত কোনো বিশেষ উৎসৱ পাৰ্বণক উপলক্ষ কৰি ৰাইজৰ লগত একলগে হৈ উপাসনা কৰা হয় ।
যিসকলে গভীৰতৰ স্তৰত পাৰমাৰ্থিক সাধনা কৰিব বিচাৰে তেওঁলোকৰ বাবে নিৰিবিলি পৰিবেশৰ প্ৰয়োজন হয়।
নিজৰ ঘৰৰে এটুকুৰা নিৰ্জন স্থানত স্থাপন কৰা গৃহদেৱতাৰ বিগ্ৰহে এই প্ৰয়োজন পূৰণ কৰে ।
আগৰ কালত গৃহদেৱতাক নিজ পৰিয়ালৰ সবাতোকৈ সন্মানীয় সদস্য বুলি ভবা হৈছিল ।প্ৰজন্মৰ পিছত প্ৰজন্ম জুৰি পৰিয়ালৰ প্ৰত্যেক সদস্যই গৃহদেৱতাক অতি আদৰ কৰিছিল ,সন্মান কৰিছিল আৰু সকলো ফালৰ পৰা সন্তুষ্ট ৰাখিবলৈ যত্ন কৰিছিল ।গৃহদেৱতাৰ বাবে শ্ৰদ্ধা সহকাৰে খাদ্য বা প্ৰসাদ প্ৰস্তুত কৰিছিল, ফল-ফুল সংগ্ৰহ কৰিছিল ।
গৃহদেৱতাক গা ধুৱাই পৰিষ্কাৰ কৰিছিল ,কাপোৰ কানি পিন্ধাই সজাই পৰাই ৰাখিছিল ।
কিছুমানে আকৌ গৃহদেৱতাৰ বাসস্থান গৰম কালত শীতল আৰু শীত কালৰ গৰম কৰি ৰখাৰো ব্যৱস্থা কৰিছিল।
কিছুমানৰ মনত গৃহদেৱতাৰ পৰা আঁতৰি থকা আৰু মাতৃৰ স্নেহ আৰু সুৰক্ষাৰ পৰা আঁতৰি থকা একে কথা আছিল ।
মাকে সকলো পৰিস্থিতি আৰু সকলো সময়তে সন্তানক স্নেহ কৰে , সুৰক্ষা দিয়ে ।
একেদৰে গৃহদেৱতাই পৰিয়ালৰ সকলো সদস্যকে স্নেহৰ চকুৰে চায় , সকলো বিপদৰ পৰা ৰক্ষা কৰে বুলি বিশ্বাস আছিল ।
আগৰ কালৰ মানুহে কিবা কাৰণত পুৰণি বাসস্থান এৰি নতুন ঠাইত বসতি স্থাপন কৰিব লগা হ’লে গৃহদেৱতাৰ বিগ্ৰহ লগত লৈ গৈছিল ।
কনৌজৰ পৰা কামৰূপলৈ অহাৰ সময়ত হৰিদেৱ গুৰুজনাৰ পূৰ্বপুৰুষ দ্বিজ নৰোত্তমেও লক্ষ্মীনাৰায়ণ বিগ্ৰহ লগত লৈ আহিছিল । পিছৰ কালত পুৰুষানুক্ৰমে এই বিগ্ৰহ হৰিদেৱ গুৰুজনাৰ পিতৃ দ্বিজ
অজনাভৰ হাতলৈ আহিছিল।
অজনাভে এই বিগ্ৰহৰ নিত্য পূজা কৰিছিল ।
তেওঁৰ পত্নী পাৰিজাতি আৰু পুত্ৰ হৰিদেৱে ওপৰত কৈ অহা ধৰণে অতি শ্ৰদ্ধা ভক্তি সহকাৰে এই বিগ্ৰহৰ সেৱা যত্ন কৰিছিল।
