In
Bhagavta it is told that utterance of any holy
name of Lord Vishnu or Krishna in any manner destroys all sins of any person
and purifies him.
This is mentioned in the preceding post.In our day to
day life when we become ill,we report our feelings to a doctor. Based on our statement
the doctor judges our ailments on the basis of his knowledge and experience that
he earns by long time study of medical books under the guidance of competent
teachers. Then he prescribes suitable medicine to cure our ailments. Sometimes,
the same doctor prescribes separate medicines to different patients with same
ailment. In such case the doctor, the teacher of the doctor, the medical books studied
by the doctor and the ailments of patient are the same. In spite of that, the
medicines prescribed are different due to difference in the patients. The
patients know nothing about the medical book, the teacher or the medicine
prescribed for curing his ailments. He simply comes to the doctor, makes consultation
with him and consumes the medicine prescribed to cure his disease. These things
are similar in the spiritual field also. Various kinds of advises are contained
in the Bhagavata for various types of people. The author of of this book is
sage Vyasdeva, sage Sukadeva and some of the sages present in his discourse
on it are the teachers of the knowledge contained in the Bhagavata. The
spiritual masters or Gurus of different times like Guru Harideva are doctors or
practioners who practically apply the knowledge and teachings contained in it
for the benefit of common people. All of them are self realized personalities
or Jvanmukta Purushas, that is, they are qualified and competent persons for that job. Sage
Vyasdeva authored the Bhagavata for the liberation of common people who suffers
from ailments of worldly life. In spiritual field the ailment means worldly
attachment and the cure means liberation from that attachment and both are
common for all people. But the worldly conditions under which different people live
are different. So, various ways of spiritual practices suitable for various kinds of people are shown in the Bhagavata by Sage Vyasdeva. The ultimate aim of each way
of practice prescribed here is liberation from worldly attachment in due course.
In this sense the category of persons mentioned in our preceding post are
suggested to utter any holy name of God
to purify their body mind complex and make themselves competent for further
spiritual practice of higher order to attain liberation. If we go through the
story of Ajamila as described in Bhagavata these things will be clear to us.(to
